There are many sidewalks in Stone Creek Estates that are in dysfunction. The City of Carrollton has created a 90 / 10 Grant Sidewalk Replacement Program to help homeowners offset the cost of sidewalk repairs. The city determines if a sidewalk meets the specific requirement through an inspection. The requirement is that a sidewalk that creates a tripping hazard with an elevation difference of 2 or more inches.
Many homeowners have already taken advantage of the program. To give you an idea of how much the homeowner is responsible for, recent projects have cost the homeowner less than $3 per linear foot of sidewalk. If you need 100 feet of sidewalk replaced, it may cost the homeowner less than $300.
For homeowners living on a corner lot, the city covers the entire cost replacing that corner and making it handicap accessible. The city uses their own crew, provides extra dirt to raise the sidewalk, puts cones out to warn people of construction, replaces any sod destroyed in the process and cleans everything up when they are done.
